In response to the changing urban landscape surrounding an artists’ community in Waterloo, Focus LDN has brought together artists of all nationalities to collaborate on a group show, about the connection between urban regeneration and culture. Focus LDN specialises in interdisciplinary arts events around the capital, with a particular interest in bringing the arts and industry together. Representing the diversity and multiculturalism of London’s art scene ‘The Art of Regeneration’ explores questions of cultural regeneration, and how the arts are utilising this visual language to inspire their practice.

Lower Marsh in Waterloo has been allocated funds for a range of new initiatives, making the quarter a Portas Pilot area as part of the London Regeneration Project. The Mayor’s investment is supporting the return of Lower Marsh’s street market by working with local businesses, schools, colleges and arts organisations. The Art of Regeneration will further contribute to the arts community by working with Menier Gallery in Southwark.

The Menier Gallery is situated within the historic Menier Chocolate Factory, located in the heart of one of London’s artistic hubs. The gallery is a two minute walk from Borough Market and five minutes from Tate Modern. Menier Gallery is managed by Paintings in Hospitals, a registered charity that lends contemporary works of art to NHS hospitals. All income generated from the gallery supports the charity’s work.
