Malcolm Willett

Illustrator and Painter

Studio: MSS 52

Starting out as a magazine illustrator, Malcolm’s work now includes sculpture, abstract painting, and animation. He recently completed a mural on the south wall of the Marlin hotel next to Make Space Studios. One of the largest murals in London, it uses the bricks as pixels to create a giant image of leaves emerging from the wall itself. The mural is approximately 14 metres high and 7 metres wide and consists of 6,000 individually painted bricks using 9 especially mixed colours supplied by Keim, a specialist exterior paint manufacturer, whose mineral based pigments won’t fade in the sunshine. The mural can be seen from Newnham Terrace, London SE1 7DR, some of the surrounding streets and one day soon on Google Earth
